About Me

This short book was originally written as a dissertation for a Masters I studied in Sound Arts and Design during 2005-2009. I decided to take up this subject having already had a background in sound, through recording and live performance.

However, over the years I became dismayed with the stereotypes people generally had of anyone involved with Hip-Hop and noticed that most people who knew about Hip-Hop were informed of it mainly from the rap recordings that dominate the TV and radio. My objective in writing this book is not to put the blame of the possible death of Hip-Hop at the hands of the mainstream media, which has passed on its ideal of Hip-Hop to the masses. But, to deposit the idea that the commercial interests of these external bodies to obtain wealth from a once under the radar Bronx based sub-culture have resulted in its current state.
